Mayor Thomas Schoenbein

Biography


Mayor Thomas Schoenbein was sworn in as Mayor of Pasadena on July 1, 2025, and has been a proud resident of the community for more than 50 years. He and his wife, Bonnie, are the parents of two children and the grandparents of three grandchildren.

Mayor Schoenbein brings deep experience, steady leadership, and a clear vision for Pasadena’s future. He spent 12 years at Phillips Chemical Company, gaining firsthand knowledge of the petrochemical industry. He later spent 20 years with Academy Sports and Outdoors, broadening his understanding of business operations. Following his retirement in 2018, he earned his real estate license in 2019.

His community-first approach is shaped by eight years of service on the Pasadena City Council and a commitment to public service. He is a lifelong advocate for strengthening local economic growth and improving the quality of life for all residents.

Mayor Schoenbein also represents Pasadena across several key regional organizations, including the Houston-Galveston Area Council (Board Member), the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership, the Economic Alliance Houston Port Region, and the Harris County Mayors’ and Councils’ Association. Through these roles, he works to expand economic opportunity, support critical infrastructure, and ensure Pasadena’s voice is represented in major regional decisions.

Guided by the principle of Pasadena First, Mayor Schoenbein remains focused on building a thriving, connected, and forward-looking city—one where families, businesses, and future generations can grow and succeed.
